Minimalist kitchens

Clean lines, flat doors and nothing on show that does not need to be. A minimalist kitchen is calm and easy to live with, and German engineering hides everything else away behind it.

Colours that make it work

White, grey and black are the three colours minimalist kitchens come back to. Schüller’s lacquered ranges come in 29 colours, so we can find the exact shade you have in mind.

WhiteTimeless and full of light

White reflects light around the room, so even a small kitchen feels open and airy. Handleless slab doors in a matt or gloss finish keep the look clean, and white is an easy base for a few personal touches.

Grey sits between warm and modern, so it is one of the easiest colours to live with. Pair handleless grey doors with a matt finish and materials like polished concrete for a calm, grown-up kitchen.

Black is bold but more forgiving than you might think, especially in a matt anti-fingerprint finish. Add clever lighting under wall units and over the island to give the room a warm, intimate feel in the evening.

Questions
Minimalist kitchen FAQs

Short answers to what people ask us about minimalist style kitchens.

What is a minimalist kitchen?
One built around simple shapes and clear surfaces: flat slab doors, often handleless, a small palette of colours and as little as possible on show. Clever storage does the hard work, so the room stays calm and easy to keep tidy.
How do I keep a minimalist kitchen clutter-free?
Plan storage for everything before you choose doors. Tall larder units, deep pan drawers and a hidden appliance cupboard for the kettle and toaster keep worktops clear. Your designer will plan it all on the 3D plan.
Will a handleless kitchen show fingerprints?
Matt anti-fingerprint fronts such as Schüller Matera and Smartglas Matt are made to stay smudge-free, and a quick wipe is all they need. Gloss doors show marks a little more, but they bounce more light around the room.
Which kitchen ranges suit a minimalist style?
Handleless slab doors work best. Schüller Siena comes in all 29 matt lacquer colours, Matera has a matt anti-fingerprint finish, and Uni Gloss and Nova Matt are great value. Nobilia handleless and modern kitchens are a great value alternative. You can see door samples of every range in our Cardiff showroom.
How much does a minimalist kitchen cost?
The style does not change the price much; the size of the room, the range and the appliances do. Complete kitchens with us start from £12k. Try our kitchen price estimator for a guide.
