HOW DOES ACTIVATED CHARCOAL ACTUALLY WORK?
Activated Charcoal Filter
Activated charcoal consists mainly of carbon and graphite crystals with a large inner surface and a highly porous structure. Activated charcoal is used both for cleaning liquids and for odours. In the case of our BORA activated charcoal filter, the pore structure ensures that the activated charcoal traps cooking odours in its pores like a sponge. In comparison to a sponge, the activated charcoal stores the odour molecules in its pores and basically does not release them anymore.
In a BORA activated charcoal filter, the filters have an additional “acidic” ion exchanger layer which ensures that certain odour particles such as amino acids in fish are destroyed and thereby made odourless.
